MIND SANCTUARY GUIDE

Use a box breathing visual at a comfortable pace

Understand the four phases of a box breathing timer, choose a practice length and use a no-hold breathing pattern when that feels better.

What the four phases mean

The box breathing visual divides a cycle into breathing in, a pause, breathing out and a second pause. The app pattern uses four seconds for each phase. The circle expands during the inhale, rests during the pause and settles during the exhale.

Comfort matters more than the timer

The visual is a guide, not a target you must reach. Keep breathing unforced. Skip a hold if it is uncomfortable, and choose the Coherent breathing pattern for a rhythm without holds. Stop if you feel dizzy, short of breath or distressed.

Choose your time and audio

Set one to sixty minutes and begin when you are ready. The timer can finish during a final partial cycle. Open Audio options to turn breathing tones or the closing bell on or off. Your background mix keeps its own controls.

Pause without losing your place

Pause freezes the visual and the practice clock together. Resume continues from that position. Breathing also pauses when the page is hidden or you move to another tool, so return and choose Resume when you are ready.

Follow a rhythm that fits you

You can try a short practice before committing to a longer one. The device reduced-motion setting gives a stationary visual with written phase guidance. If you have a health condition or are unsure whether paced breathing suits you, ask a healthcare professional.
