MIND SANCTUARY GUIDE

Set a Pomodoro timer that fits your work

Use a free Pomodoro timer with adjustable focus periods, breaks, cycles and a separate native gong, or choose an open-ended stopwatch.

Set your focus timer

Give one task a clear beginning

Choose a task small enough to start now. Open Focus, choose Pomodoro and set your focus minutes, break minutes and number of cycles. The default is twenty-five minutes of focus followed by a five-minute break. You can change the lengths before starting.

Know when the session ends

Each cycle contains a focus period. A break comes between focus periods, and the last focus period ends the session. For example, two focus periods have one break between them. The timer shows the current phase and cycle.

Choose the gong separately

The phone app gong can mark phase changes. Turn it off if you prefer silence, or adjust its own volume and use Test gong before you begin. Its volume is independent of the background player. Browser or device suspension can delay audible alerts.

Keep your background optional

Try a low, steady soundscape if you enjoy one while working. Background controls do not pause the focus timer. Quiet view removes surrounding page elements while keeping the timer controls available. Stop all remains a way to end every playing sound and practice.

Use the stopwatch when a fixed period does not fit

The stopwatch counts upward and lets you mark laps. It gives you an open-ended alternative for tasks that do not fit a focus-and-break schedule. A timer is a planning aid; adjust it to your work rather than treating a completed interval as a measure of your worth.
