Joy arrives. Welcome it. Sadness arrives. Welcome it. Anger arrives. Welcome it. Fear arrives. Welcome it.
None of these visitors are permanent residents. They come, they stay briefly, and they leave. Problems arise when we try to lock the door against unwanted guests or chain pleasant ones to the furniture.
In meditation, we practice being the perfect host. We notice each emotion as it arrives, acknowledge its presence, and observe it when it departs. No clinging. No rejecting.
